ADCNC Believes…

Alcohol and other substance abuse addiction is a preventable and treatable chronic disease.

Intervention in the lives of people suffering with addiction through the family, education or work place, criminal justice system and community-at-large works, and sustains recovery.

Substance abuse treatment and prevention services should be available and accessible in the primary health care system.

Insurers should treat addiction as a chronic disease and pay for treatment as they do with other medical conditions. Indigent, uninsured and underinsured substance abuse clients should have timely access to public safety net services.

Juvenile and criminal justice clients should have access to a continuum of addiction treatment and rehabilitation services including aftercare upon release.

Addiction services should be rendered by professionals who are trained, credentialed, and experienced in the field of addiction.

Twelve Step groups play a key role in providing personal and group support, substance-free environment, and evidence-based strategies required for on-going abstinence in the lives of many people who recover from addiction.
