Motivational Interviewing Trainings
Jun 25th, 2009 • Category: Education, Events This Summer the Behavioral Healthcare Institute at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work will offer Motivational Interviewing trainings, taught by Worth Bolton.
Motivational Interviewing is based on the work of Drs. William Miller and Stephen Rollnick, and on principles of cognitive and social psychology. Participants in these trainings will include those working with adult SA & MH clients who want to improve their ability to respond more effectively with difficult clients.
Motivational Interviewing is one of the Evidenced-Based SA Best Practice models identified by the NC Division of MH/DD/SAS in its reform plan, and is one of the preferred approaches that will be used to accomplish Person-Centered Plans with Substance Abuse clients.
Two trainings will be offered in Chapel Hill: an introductory course in July, and an advanced course in August. Registration is online, with a fee of $50 for each training. You may sign up for either or both courses. However, the prerequisite for the advanced training is documentation of at least 12 hours of Motivational Interviewing training in the past 2 years.
