NCFADS Scholarship Application

The NCFADS Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2009 Summer Scholarship Application Process Below:

2009 Summer School Foundation Scholarship Guidelines

The Board of the North Carolina Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Studies will be awarding 20 scholarships for the 2009 Summer School.  The amount of the award may be up to either the full-time-campus resident option ($590 – includes $30 banquet) or the commuter option ($540 – includes $30 banquet) depending on one’s registration selection. The scholarship does not include transportation expenses; costs of off-campus housing; meals not served on campus; extra credit choices; or the golf tournament. To apply for the NCFADS scholarship, please complete the attached application form.

Foundation Scholarship Criteria:

Foundation scholarships will be awarded to persons in the following disciplines:

      • Professionals working full-time in the treatment field
      • Professionals working full-time in the areas of intervention, prevention, or education
      • Retirees desiring to maintain certification status in order to work in the field on a PRN basis
      • Para-professionals, substance abuse volunteers, or students working towards substance abuse certification
  1. Applicants must complete the attached NCFADS Scholarship Application Form and include the following information:

    • A personal statement of justification as to why the scholarship is needed
    • The impact of training on your work in the field
    • A statement of your career goals
  2. All applications must be typed or printed clearly for readability. Please include a correct email address for direct contact.

  3. Applicants must make a compelling case for needing the scholarship. This is a competitive process. You will be competing with approximately 150 others for a slot.

  4. The completed application package must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2009 and mailed to the Foundation office address printed on the application form.

  5. Final selections of Foundation scholarship recipients will be made by the Board at the June Board meeting following the submission deadline.

  6. All Foundation scholarship applicants will be notified of their status by June 30, 2009.

  7. Completion of the Scholarship Application does not register one for the school.
