Jun 27th, 2008 • Category: NewsOn June 24, the House passed a bill to block the 10.6 percent cut to Medicare physician payment rate, set to go into effect on July 1, 2008. The bill (HR 6331) would also end Medicare’s discriminatory 50 percent outpatient copayment for mental illness and would achieve parity with other medical/surgical conditions in a phased-in plan over a number of years. The National Council has advocated for this provision as a member of the Medicare Equity Coalition. HR 6331 passed by a vote of 355-59.
