PHOENIX, Ariz. — According to government statistics, women make up 49 percent of all patients treated for a primary addiction to meth. Long-term effects of taking meth can be devastating, and more and more mothers are turning to this dangerous drug. The results can be disastrous.

Jasmine Trujillo loves her daughter Savannah, but until recently she also loved something else. “Meth became my higher power, it was something I worshipped,” she said. “I thought I couldn’t be a mom without it.”

Trujillo’s not alone. Many moms actually think meth helps them be better mothers.

Janella Ford smoked meth while raising three young kids. “I thought that I was being supermom, I could get them to school, I could go to school, I could go to work, I could pick them up, come home, clean the house, do the laundry, cook them dinner,” Ford listed.

Meth is a highly addictive and dangerous stimulant, used by some women to lose weight, feel good and have enough energy to create a doped up super mom.
